Staff training and development
The firms have a policy of continuing staff training and skills development,
both on an informal basis within departments and as formal training. This
policy has often resulted in the rapid promotion of staff members, and
in one instance a person who started as a messenger was firstly promoted
to filing clerk and thereafter to articled clerk (candidate attorney).
The firms try to employ as many candidate attorneys as available office
space allows, thereby making a meaningful contribution to the training
of attorneys in South Africa and Lesotho.
